2004: I joined FOUND Magazine with an energetic curiosity for the lives of strangers and the stories behind the things left behind. I was working at a screenprint shop on the Northside of Ann Arbor. The Broadway Bridge made a rainbow from Adrian’s T-Shirts to the FOUND house on 5th Ave.
It was a basement operation. My first experience there was hand-decorating the latest issue (#3) for subscribers. I loved going through the submissions! The people who sent in what they had found would often include a description of how they came across the item, how it made them feel, how FOUND Magazine made them feel—connected.I was hooked.
2026: The beloved archives, all the notes, letters, photographs—scraps of paper from all over the world, are now in my basement. I manage the project daily and love connecting with finders worldwide! Our webstore is closed, but contact me for the inventory menu so I can mail one directly to your mailbox.
Sharing all this “stuff”, I think, is really celebrating artifacts of humanity.
